Is 30 the new 40?

As people across the country prepare themselves for another lockdown, and we look at ways to protect the older generation who seem to be worst affected by COVID-19, it seems that young people are still very much feeling the impact of this unprecedented period – just in a very different way.

The impact of COVID-19 on the economy has put millions of young people in difficult circumstances, with one third of 18-24 year olds being furloughed or let go from their job, compared to less than 15% of 35-44 year olds being affected.

It’s not surprising, then, to find that millions of Brits under the age of 34 say that the added stress brought about by their circumstances in the pandemic have caused them to age prematurely. According to Uvence’s research, a third of younger adults across Britain are suffering from physical signs of premature ageing, with over 2 million (15%) of 18-34 year olds saying they look at least five years older due to the stress and anxiety of the pandemic.

With young peoples’ physical appearances being impacted so harshly by the current state of the world, the easing of the first lockdown saw a surge in demand for cosmetic treatments across Britain. The Cadogan Clinic, one of the UK’s most renowned beauty clinics, reported a 100% increase in appointments for cosmetic procedures vs. this time last year.

However, despite the clear desire from young people to counter the physical signs of ageing, a considerable number of 18-34 year olds who are considering cosmetic treatments have not gone ahead with them to avoid introducing unnatural substances into their body. With this in mind, it is clear that the demand for treatments that can help young people combat premature ageing in a natural way is only going to increase.

The Uvence offering allows access to regenerative and personalised treatments and provides a 100% natural solution for long term skin rejuvenation, which uses nothing but a patient’s own purified tissue to boost skin repair. The cryopreservation capability also allows patients to take control of their own treatment regime, by preserving their super enriched tissue and requesting reinjection on-demand.
